suppose 'S' is the sample space.

S = { 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 }

n ( s ) = 6

Event A : getting an odd number.

A = { 1 , 3 , 5 }

n ( A ) = 3

P ( A ) = n ( A ) / n ( s )

= 3 / 6

= 1 / 2

therefore the probability of getting an odd number is 1 / 2.
