A dice is thrown once. What is the probability that the number obtained is

1) A dice has numbers 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 out of which 2,4 and 5 are even.

Since probability is found by the no. of possible outcomes divided by the total no. of outcomes,

3/6 = 1/2

So there is a 50% or 1/2 chance that the no. will be even

2) There are 5 numbers other than 4 so the probability will be 5/6 ( No of possible outcomes/ Total no. of outcomes )

(1) S=2,4,6

n(a)=3

Probability =

n(a)/n(s)

=3/6

=1/2

(2) S=1,2,3,5,6

n(a)=5

Probability =

n(a)/n(s)

=5/6
