Question :

A die is rolled. What is the probability that the number appearing on upper face is greater than 3 ?*

Options :

1️⃣ 1/6

2️⃣ 1/3

3️⃣ 1/2

4️⃣ 0

Formula :

P(A) = n(A)/n(S)

Solution:

A die is rolled .

Hence there are 6 possible outcomes

Let S be the set of all possible outcomes

S = { 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 }

n(s) = 6

We are given a event .Let that even be A .

A = { 3 }

n(A) = 1

Now

P(A) = n(A)/n(S)

P(A) = 1/6

Answer : Option 1️⃣ 1/6
