||SOLUTION||

Total Faces a die have = 6

s = {1,2,3,4,5,6}

n(s) = 6

a) A number less than 4

Let, E be the chance of a getting a number less than 4.

E = {1,2,3}

n(E) = 3

p(E) = n(E)/n(s)

p(E) = 3/6

p(E) = 1/2

Probability of getting a number less than 4

  • \longmapsto\;\Large{\red{\bold{\frac{1}{2}}}}

b) An Even Number

Let, F be the chance of getting an even number.

F = {2,4,6}

n(F) = 3

p(F) = n(F)/n(s)

p(F) = 3/6

p(F) = 1/2

Probability of getting an even number

  • \longmapsto\;\Large{\blue{\bold{\frac{1}{2}}}}

\boxed{\sf{Probability\;of\; getting\;an\; Event = \frac{Number\;of\; Favourable\; Elements}{Total\;Number\;of\; Elements}}}
