Let’s first understand how to tally marks for preparing a frequency distribution table. Tally marks is usually used to avoid any kind of errors while counting the given data, to find the no. of times each of the given data has occurred i.e., it makes easy to find the frequencies of the data. Tally marks are denoted as “|” for each frequency. Tally marks usually taken in the set of 5. After drawing the first four tallies, the fifth tally is represented by “\” across the first four tallies diagonally.

From the frequency table calculated in the figure shown below we get,

Number 1 occurs 3 times

Number 2 occurs 2 times

Number 3 occurs 3 times

Number 4 occurs 3 times

Number 5 occurs 6 times

Number 6 occurs 3 times

The frequency distribution table of the given numbers is as follows in the  tabular figure below:
