Given:

a dielectric is placed in between the two parallel plates of a capacitor as shown in figure the dielectric constant of a dielectric being k

To find:

If the initial capacity is c then new capacity will be

Solution:

From given, we have,

A dielectric is placed in between the two parallel plates of a capacitor.

The capacitance of a capacitor is given by,

C = ε₀A/d

where, ε₀ is a constant

A is the area of the plates of a capacitor

d is the distance between the plates of a capacitor.

As from the above formula, it's clear that the capacitance of a capacitor is independent of the dielectric.

Thus, the new capacitance will be equal to the old capacitance "C".
