let the cost of 1cm of cloth be x

so the selling price of 1cm of cloth will also be x (as mentioned in the question, the selling price and cost price is the same)

when he sells 1m , selling cost of  1m (100cm) of cloth = 100 x

however, he uses the wrong scale and sells 95 cm in the name of 100cm

therefore the actual amount of cloth he is selling is 95cm

cost of 95cm of cloth = 95x (cost price)

the profit he earns is selling price - cost price

100x - 95x = 5 x

finally, profit percentage  is

(profit x 100)/ cost price

 (5x x 100 )/ 95x = 5.26 %
