Given:

Percentage while buying = 10%

Percentage while selling = 10%

To Find:

The overall profit percentage

Solution:

Let the total number of units bought by shopkeeper = 100.

Thus,

Since he cheated 10% at the time of buying, therefore he bought 10% extra,

= 10% of 100 + 100

= 10 + 100

= 110

Similarly, while selling he cheated again for 10%,

= 10% of 110 + 100

= 11 + 110

= 121.

Thus, if he had been honest he must have bought 100 units, but he has 121 units.

Thus, there is a gain

Gain = 121 - 100

= 21 units,

Gain % =  21 / 100 x 100

= 21%

Answer: The gain is 21%.
