from this question
a=5
d=3
a n =35
so the formula is an=a+(n-1)d
35=5+(n-1)3
n=(35-5)/3
10
so he 10 samples.

Answer:

The sample did he collect is 11.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : A diver was collecting water samples from a lake. he collected a water sample at every interval of 3 m, starting at 5 m below the water surface. The final sample was collected at a depth of 35 m.

To find : How many samples did he collect?

Solution :

According to question,

The situation form an A.P - 5,8,11..........,35

and we have to find the number of terms.

Applying nth formula,

a_n= a+ (n-1)d

Where, a is the first term a=5

d is the common difference d=3

a_n=35 is the nth term.

Substitute all the values in the formula,

35=5+ (n-1)3

35=5+3n-3

35=2+3n

3n=33

n=11

Therefore, The sample did he collect is 11.
