Number of samples collected =》 Net. depth / Distance between the adjacent symbol.

Net depth =》 Final depth - Initial depth

Net depth =》35 - 5

=》 30m

Number of symbol collected =》 30 / 3

=》 10

Since the man started to collect the samples from 5m deep anything before the 5m should not be counted or considered.

Thus no. of symbols collected is 10.
