A doctor can treat 4 heart patients per hour; however, stroke patients need 3 times
as much of the doctor’s time. If the doctor treats patients 6 hours per day and has
already treated ten heart patients and 3 stroke patients today, how many more
stroke patients will she have time to treat today?

Answer:

1 stroke patient

Step-by-step explanation:

Total time in a day = 6 hours = 360 mins

Time taken per heart patient = 60/4 = 15 mins

Time taken per stroke patient = 3x15 = 45 mins

Patients treated today:

Heart: 10 x 15 = 150 mins

Stroke: 3 x 45 = 135 mins

Balance time: 360 - 150 - 135 = 75 mins

Additional Stroke patients that can be treated: 85/45 = 1.66 = 1 patient
