The \: power \: of \: this \: lens \: is \: positive , \\ therfore, \: this \: is \: a \: convex \: lens \: or \: \\ converging \: lens. \: now, \\ Power, p = \frac{1}{f(in \: metrs)} \\ so \: \: \: \: \: + 1.5 = \frac{1}{f} \\ or \: \: \: f = \frac{1}{ + 1.5} \: m \\ f = + \frac{1}{1.5} \times 100cm \\ \\ So, \: \: \: focal \: length \: of \: lens \: f = + \: 66.7cm

1) Find the focal length of the lens.

Ans) Given,

Power (p) = + 1.5 D

Power (p) = 1/f

Therefore, +1.5 = 1/f

focal length (f) = 1/1.5 m

f ( in cm) = 1/1.5* 100

= 66.7 cm

Therefore, focal length of the lens is +66.7 cm

2) Is the prescribed lens diverging or converging.

Ans) Power of the given lens is positive. So, it can be a convex lens or a converging lens.
