A completes the job in 28 days.

To find : Time taken by A to finish his work.

Given :

A does 1/5th of a work in a week

A = \frac{1}{5}  of work  in a week ⇒ 7 × 5 = 35 days.

A finishes his work = 7 × 5 = 35 days.

B finishes the same work in 15 days.

B starts the work and works only for 3 days ⇒ \frac{3}{15}= \frac{1}{5}

Remaining work = 1 - \frac{1}{5} = \frac{5-1}{5} = \frac{4}{5}

Time taken by A = 35 × \frac{4}{5} = 7 × 4 = 28.

Therefore, A finishes the remaining work in 28 days.

Answer:

The rest of work is done by A in 33 \dfrac{1}{2} days

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

A does \dfrac{1}{5} th of work in 7 days

B dose  \dfrac{1}{5} th of work in 14 days

So, In 14 days work done by B  = \dfrac{1}{5} th

Or, In 3 days work done by B = \dfrac{3}{70} th

Amount of work left =  1 -  \dfrac{3}{70} th

I.e Amount of work left = \dfrac{70 - 3}{70}

Or, Amount of work left = \dfrac{67}{70} th

∵ A does \dfrac{1}{5} th of work in 7 days

So, \dfrac{67}{70} th of work done by A in 35 × \dfrac{67}{70}

i.e  \dfrac{67}{2} days

Hence, The rest of work is done by A in 33 \dfrac{1}{2} days  Answer
