average speed = total distance/ total time

average speed = 12m + 18m / 25s+ 4s

average = 30/29

= 1.034m/s

Answer:

Required average speed is 5 m/s.

Explanation:

Given,a dog runs 12m is the frist 2s and 18m is the next 4s.

Here we want to find average speed of the dog.

We know,

Average speed

 =  \frac{d_1 + d_2}{t_1 + t_2}

Where

d_1 = First cover distance

d_2 = Second cover distance

t_1 = time in first case

t_2 = time in second case

Here

d_1 = 12 \: m \\ d_2 = 18 \: m \\ t_1 = 2 \: s \\ t_2 = 4 \: s

So required average speed

 =  \frac{12 + 18}{2 + 4} \\  =  \frac{30}{6}  \\  = 5 \: m. {s}^{ - 1}
