Hey MATE!!!

The minimum acceleration of the boy must be greater than the acceleration of the dog so that he doesn't gets caught.

Hence, we find out acceleration of the dog:

u (initial velocity) = 0m/s

v(final velocity) = 10m/s

s(distance between the two) = 80m

a( acceleration of dog) = ??

To find acceleration we apply 3rd equation of motion :-

v^2 = u^2 +2as

=> 10^2 = 0^2 + 2(a)(80)

=> 100 = 160a

=> a = 100/160 => 5/8 m/s^2

Hence, the minimum acceleration of the boy must be equal 5/8m/s^2 so that he escapes from the dog.

Hope it helps
