A dog was west of his home for a short time and returns home then runs past it in the other direction (east). The graph shows his position as a function of time. How long did the dog stop at his home before running again?

Answer:

in all position time graphs we know that slope of the graph will represent the velocity of motion

as we know that

\frac{dx}{dt} = v

dt

dx

=v

here we know that

slope = \frac{dx}{dt}slope=

dt

dx

so here we know that the dog will stay at home for the time when slope of the graph will be zero

so here slope will be zero in this graph for t = 5 s

so correct answer will

option c
