Explanation:

Like every mammal, dolphins are warm blooded. Unlike fish, who breathe through gills, dolphins breathe air using lungs. Dolphins must make frequent trips to the surface of the water to catch a breath. The blowhole on top of a dolphin's head acts as a "nose," making it easy for the dolphin to surface for air.

Answer:

a dolphin is called a mammal and not a fish because it does not lay eggs to give birth but it directly gives birth to the baby. it is also called a mammal because it takes in air through the its blow hole. just like whale. you might think that whales spray water out of the hole if their heads but that us not true. when the heat or cold air mixes with the atmospheric air it creates mist. that is why it seems like whales and dolphins spray water out of their blow hole.

hope this is useful to you.
