Given data :

  • A door of length 4 m and breadth 3 m is fixed in the wall.
  • The length of the walls is 15.4 m and breadth is 12.6 m.
  • The cost of white washing the wall at the rate of Rs 30 per m².

To find : The remaining area of the wall and The cost of white washing.

Solution : Let, shape of the door and wall be rectangular.

Now, here according to given,

  • Length of the door = 4 m
  • Breadth of the door = 3 m

and

  • Length of the wall = 15.4 m
  • Breadth of the wall = 12.6 m

Firstly we have to find area of the door,

⟹ Area of the (rectangular) door

= Length * Breadth

⟹ Area of the (rectangular) door

= 4 * 3

⟹ Area of the (rectangular) door

= 12 m²

Similarly, to find area of the wall

⟹ Area of the (rectangular) wall

= Length * Breadth

⟹ Area of the (rectangular) wall

= 15.4 * 12.6

⟹ Area of the (rectangular) wall

= 194.04 m²

Now, to find the remaining area of the wall after putting the door in it;

⟹ Remaining area of the wall

= Area of the wall - Area of the door

⟹ Remaining area of the wall

= 194.04 - 12

⟹ Remaining area of the wall

= 182.04 m²

Now, to find the cost of white washing the wall;

⟹ Cost of white washing the wall

= Remaining area of the wall * Rate of washing at Rs per m².

⟹ Cost of white washing the wall

= 182.04 * 30

⟹ Cost of white washing the wall

= Rs 5461.2

Answer : Remaining area of the wall is 182.04 m² and cost of white washing the wall is Rs 5461.2

Step-by-step explanation:

   \bigstar\underline{\large \underline \frak{Given}}

  • Length and breadth of door = 4m and 3m
  • Length and breadth of walls = 15,4m and 12.6m
  • Cost of white washing the wall per = Rs.30

 \blue{\bigstar\underline{\large \underline \frak{to \: find \: }}}

  • Find remaining area of wall.
  • And cost of white washing the walls

   \bigstar \large \underline\red{ \underline{ \frak{formula \: used}}}

  • Area of door = length × breadth
  • Area of wall = length × breadth

 \green{\bigstar\underline{\large \underline \frak{solution}}}

First we have to find area of door = length × breadth

\begin{gathered}\frak{we\;have}\begin{cases}\sf{\:\; \: Length = \bf{4\;m}}\\\sf{ \: \: \: Breadth = \bf{3 \;m}}\sf{ }\end{cases}\end{gathered}

 \qquad \qquad \twoheadrightarrow \sf \: length \times breadth \\  \\  \qquad \qquad \twoheadrightarrow \sf \: 4 \times 3 \\  \\  \qquad \qquad \twoheadrightarrow \frak{ 12\: {m}^{2} }

Now we find area of walls = length × breadth

\begin{gathered}\frak{we\;have}\begin{cases}\sf{\:\; \: Length = \bf{15.4\;m}}\\\sf{ \: \: \: Breadth = \bf{12.6 \;m}}\end{cases}\end{gathered}

 \qquad \qquad \qquad \twoheadrightarrow \sf \: length \times breadth \\

 \\   \qquad \qquad \qquad \twoheadrightarrow \sf15.4 \times 12.6 \\  \\  \qquad \qquad \qquad \twoheadrightarrow \frak{194.04m {}^{2} }

The remaining area of walls = area of door - area of walls

 \qquad \qquad \qquad \twoheadrightarrow \sf12 - 194.04 \\  \\ \qquad \qquad \qquad \boxed{ \twoheadrightarrow \frak{ {182.04 \: m}^{2}  }}

Now,

The cost of white washing 1 metre = Rs.30 per m²

The cost of white washing 182.04m² = Rs. ( 182.04× 30) = Rs. 5461.2

Hence the cost of white washing the wall is Rs. 5461.2
