The area of the house = area of square + area of triangle

area of square = side × side
=12 ×12
=144 ft square

area of triangle = 1/2 × base × height
= 1/2× 12×8
base of the triangle will be 12 ft as it is the side of square
=48 ft square

Area of the house = 144+48
=182 ft square
