A driver of a car travelling at 54 km/h applies the brakes and accelerates uniformly in the opposite direction. The car stops in 5 seconds. Another driver of another car travelling at 18 km/h applies his brakes slowly and stops in 10 seconds. Find the distance travelled by the two cars before stopping?

car 1

speed = 54 km/h = 15m/s

time = 5 s

distance = s x t = 15 x 5

              = 75m or 0.075km

car 2

speed = 18 km/h = 5m/s

time = 10 s

d = s x t = 5 x 10

             = 50m or 0.05km
