A drone revolves around an object in a circular orbit of radius 60m. If it takes 2 minutes to complete one revolution, calculate its speed.

Answer :

Radius of circular path = 60m

Time taken by drone to complete one revolution = 2min

We have to find speed of drone.

★ Speed is defined as the ratio of distance traveled to the time taken.

  • speed = distance/time

It is a scalar quantity having only magnitude.

SI unit : m/s

Conversion :

  • 1min = 60s

∴ 2min = 2 × 60 = 120s

Calculation :

➙ speed = distance/time

➙ speed = 2πr/t

[∵ perimeter of circle = 2πr]

➙ speed = 2 × 3.14 × 60/120

speed = 3.14 m/s
