let the capacity of the drum be ' x ' litre

according to question,

3/4 of x - 30 = 7/ 12 of x

3x/4 - 30 = 7 x/ 12

(3x / 4 ) - ( 7x / 12 ) = 30

(36x - 28x) / 48 = 30

8x = 30 × 48

8x = 1440

x = 180 litre

therefore,
the capacity of the drum is 180 litre.
