|| ✰✰ ANSWER ✰✰ ||

It is Given That, He Takes 5 Step Forward and Each Step is 1 m long and Takes 1 second.

So, we can say That,

In First 5 steps He cover 5m distance in 5 seconds . ------Equation (1)

___________

Now, After 5 steps forward he comes back 3 step backward .

So, we can say That,

In Next 3 seconds , He comes back 3m. ------ Equation (2)

__________________

With both Equations we can say That, in (5+3) = 8 seconds He Move (5-3) = 2m Forward Only.

So,

2 m forward = 8 seconds .

→ 3(2m Forward) = 3*(8) seconds .

→ 6 m Forward = 24 Seconds. --------- Equation (3).

Now, Its Turn of Taking 5 Forward Steps , in Next 5 seconds .

So,

He will be at = 6 + 5 = 11 m Distance = Pit .

Now, He Falls on The Pit .

So,

Total Time Taken by him = 24 seconds + 5 seconds = 29 seconds.

Hence, the drunkard will fall into the pit after 29 seconds.

Question

A drunkard is walking along a straight road he takes 5 steps forward and three steps backward and so on .each step is is 1 m long and takes 1 second. there is a pit on the road 11 metre away from the starting point. the drunkard will fall into the pit after how much time?

Solution

The total time taken by the drunkard to fall into the pit is 29s

Given

  • Length of one step = 1 m

  • Time taken to cover one step = 1 sec

To finD

Time taken to fall into a pit 11m far

The drunkard takes 5 steps forward and 3 steps backward

  • Distance Covered = 8m
  • Displacement = 2m

He again takes five steps forward and three steps backward

  • Distance = 8*2 = 16m
  • Displacement = 2.2 = 4m

He repeats the same again

  • Distance = 8*3 = 24m
  • Displacement = 2*3 = 6m

  • If he takes five steps forward, his displacement would be 11m. Implies,he is 11m far from the initial point and would fall into the pit

Now,

Time taken to cover 29m = 1 × 29s/1s

Time taken to cover 29m = 29s
