DVD player sold for Rs.30 at loss of 4%
assume original price is 'a'
a - (a x (4/100)) = 3120
here loss so use -
a - 0.04a = 3120
0.96a = 3120
a = 3120 / 0.96
a = 3250
original price Rs.3250
he sold 3640
so he gained
assume gain percentage b%
3250 + (3250 x (b/100)) = 3640
here gain so use +
3250 + 32.5b = 3640
32.5b = (3640 / 3250)
32.5b = 1.12
b = 1.12 / 32.5
b = 0.0344
b%=3.44%
gain percentage is 3.44%
assume original price is 'a'
a - (a x (4/100)) = 3120
here loss so use -
a - 0.04a = 3120
0.96a = 3120
a = 3120 / 0.96
a = 3250
original price Rs.3250
he sold 3640
so he gained
assume gain percentage b%
3250 + (3250 x (b/100)) = 3640
here gain so use +
3250 + 32.5b = 3640
32.5b = (3640 / 3250)
32.5b = 1.12
b = 1.12 / 32.5
b = 0.0344
b%=3.44%
gain percentage is 3.44%
