Answer : speed to cover 30 km = 40 km/ h

time taken = 3/4 h

speed to cover 30 km = 20 km/h

time taken = 1/2 h

average speed = 30 + 30/3/4 + 2/3

= 26whole 2/3( ans ).

Question :-

  • A ear travels 30 km at a uniform speed of 40 km/h and the next 30 km at a uniform speed of 20 km/h.

To find :-

  • Average speed

Formula to be used :-

  • Avg speed = total distance covered/total time taken

Solution :-

The total distance covered = 30 + 30 = 60km

The total time taken = (30/40 + 30/20) hr

= 30/40 (1 + 20 hr

= 3/4 × 3 hr

Avg speed = total distance covered/total time taken

Average speed = 60km/(9/4)hr

= 60×4/9 km/h

= 20 × 4/3 km/h

= 80/3 km/h

= 26.7 km/h

The Average speed = 26.7 km/h
