Answer:

Combined earning of A and B in sixteen hours = 720 Rs

Step-by-step explanation:

Let earning of B = x

According to question A earns Rs. 5 more than B every hour

Then earning of A = (x + 5) Rs per hour.

Given  that -

The ratio of earning per hour of A and B = 5 : 4

We have -

Earning of  A = (x + 5) Rs per hour

Earning of B = x Rs per hour

Ratio = 5 : 4

So,  (x + 5) ÷ x = 5 : 4

(x + 5) ÷ x = 5  ÷ 4

4 (x + 5) = 5 x

 [ Because ( \dfrac{a}{b} =\dfrac{c}{d} ) ⇒ ad = bc ]

So, 4x + 20 = 5x

x = 20 Rs

So, earning of B = x = 20 RS per hour

Earning of A = x + 5 = 20 + 5 = 25 Rs per hour

Earning of A in sixteen hours = Earning of one hour × 16

                                                 = 25 × 16

                                                 = 400 Rs

Earning of B in sixteen hours = Earning of one hour × 16

                                                  = 20 × 16

                                                 = 320 Rs

Combined earning of A and B in sixteen hours = 400 + 320

                                                                              = 720 Rs
