CFC's - ( chloroflurocarbons)

Formation of chlorine atoms causes a depletion in ozone layer

CFC's and how it reduces ozone to oxeygen :

•chloroflurocarbons are widely used in refrigerants and are released in the lower part of atmosphere , then it reaches statosphere.

• in statosphere, UV rays act upon these choloroflurocarbons causing a release of chlorine atoms (free radical mechanism) .

• chlorine atoms released degrades ozone layer releasing molecular oxeygen and the chain reaction continues and this phenomenon affects ozone layer.
