where C is speed of light in air

           V is speed of light in medium

           μ₁ is refractive index of air

           μ₂ is refractive index of medium

B) refractive index of ice is (μ₂)=  1.31

  refractive index of air is (μ₁) = 1

C/V =μ₁/μ₂

V= C × μ₂/μ₁

= 3 x 10⁸ × 1.31 / 1

= 3.98  x 10⁸m/s
