Solution:

Profit on each pencil pack = 8

No. of pencil pack sold = 3000

Total profit earned = 24000

Loss on each pen sold = 5

No. of pen packs sold = 5000

Total loss on Pens = 25000

a) The total loss on the sale = 25000-24000

∴ There is Loss = 1000

b) No. of pens pack sold = 6400

Total Loss on Pens = 6400x5

Loss on Pens = 32000

( so for no loss no gain Profit = Loss)

Total Profit should be = 32000

Profit on each pack of pencil = 8

No. of pencil packs sold = 32000/8

∴ No. of pencil packs sold = 4000

Hence a)There isa overall Loss = 1000

b) No. of pencil packs sold = 4000
