Answer:

The number of units produced in ten years is 2300.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : A factory produces 900 units in its third year and 1700 units in 7th years.

To find : The number of units produced in ten years?

Solution :

Let the number of sets produced in 1st year be 'a' and 'd' be the increase in production every year.

We are given, a+2d= 900  ----- (1)

and a+6d= 1700  ----- (2)

Subtracting equation (1) from (2), we get

4d= 800

d=200

Substituting d=200 in equation (1), we get

a+2(200)= 900

a+400=900

a= 500

Production in 10th year = a+ 9d

a+ 9d = 500+9(200)=500+1800=2300

The number of units produced in ten years is 2300.
