A FACTUAL PASSAGE

The incident is about 15 years ago. I was 9 years old. I remember, In June 2006, me and my family were returning back home after holidays. We went to Uttarakhand. While returning, on the Khichchad station of Uttarakhand we lost one of our trolly bag because of our carelessness. The bag was filled with stuffs purchased there and some gifts. It was a huge loss, of atleast 35 thousand. Me and my brother Aman was taking care of that bag and when got lost we were scolded badly. Aman went to railway police office to file a complaint.

Aman recently found that Station master is his best friend's father and he got transferred there since 2 months, so he took his help for finding the bag. I told aman that I have seen a wierd looking man roaming here and there without luggage and stalking people. I had a doubt on him. If he is the thief, he won't go too far. I explained his attire so well. Uncle John, station master asked police to block the entrance and exist to check such thief. Train was 4 hours late so we got time to atleast try getting back our baggage.

The day belonged to us luckily. When the thief noticed the activeness of the police at exit gate, he left the bag there nearby. Coincidentally, a police man observed his behavior and caught him. Th policeman took our bag with him to ask whether the bag belongs to us. We recognized our bag, but not the person. He was not that person I was thinking. The actual thief was in a good attire with goggles on that none could doubt him while looking at him. He was looking great, but his actions were not great. Police then took him to ask further. Me and my brother felt relieved.

After few days, we heard that the thief belongs to a great gang. They stole people's bags and purses and it's their daily routine. And the man I doubted on was a beggar who helped police in catching such thieves. That day I realized that whatever happen, never judge a book by its cover. Never judge a person by his attire. Who knows what is in the heart and what kind of person he is other than himself and GOD.
