Let CP of fan be Rs.x
SP of fan=Rs.650
SP is greater than CP
So gain=1/4 of Rs.x=SP-CP=Rs.(650-x)
So, according to the problem,
1/4 of Rs.x=Rs.(650-x)
or,x/4=650-x
or,x=4(650-x)
or,x=2600-4x
or,x+4x=2600
or,5x=2600
or,x=2600/5=520
or,Rs.x=Rs.520
So,CP=Rs.520
So,gain=Rs.(1/4×520)=Rs.130
So,gain percent=(Gain/CP×100)%
=(130/520×100)%=25%
Ans. The gain percent is 25%.

Q1) If fan is sold for rupees 650.The gain is one fourth of the cost price of the fan.Find the gain percent.

S1) As we've told , Selling price of fan = 650

Gain earned = 1/4 of selling price

= 1/4 × 650

= 162.5

So, if gain is 162.5 , Then gain% →

Gain/Cost price × 100%

= 162.5/650×100%

= 25%

Answer→ The gain is 25%
