Azotobacter is a nitrogen fixing bacteria. It can fix atmospheric nitrogen to the soil and makes it available to the plants.

Azatobacter fixes atmospheric nitrogen and thus increases the nitrogen content of the soil.

Azotobacter is a free living bacteria which converts atmospheric nitrogen into water soluble nitrates and nitrites which are useful for plants in their growth so it increases the yield of maize.
