The farmer adds azotobacter culture to the soil before sowing maize to increase the yield of maize.

Explanation:  

  • Azotobacter is a nitrogen fixing bacteria. The atmospheric air contains high percentage of nitrogen in fact nitrogen occupies the highest volume of gas that is present in the atmosphere.
