A farmer completes one round of a rectangular field of length 12m and breadth [3] 5m in 50 seconds. What will be the distance covered and the displacement at
the end of 3 minutes 45 seconds?

Given : A farmer completes one round of a rectangular field of length 12m and breadth 5m in 50 seconds.

To Find :  What will be the distance covered and the displacement at

the end of 3 minutes 45 seconds

Solution:

one round of a rectangular field of length 12m and breadth 5m

Perimeter = 2 ( 12 + 5)  = 34 m

Hence distance covered in 50 secs  = 34 m

3 minutes 45 seconds  = 225 sec

Distance covered in 225 secs  =  (34/50) 225  =  153 m

153 m  = 34 * 4 + 17

in 17 m  he has covered  12 m +  5  m

and both are perpendicular     as he reached  diagonal corner of rectangle

Hence Displacement  = Final position - Initial position

= √12² + 5²

=  13 m

Distance covered in 3 minutes 45 seconds   = 153 m

and Displacement  =   13 m
