A farmer had 11 cows. He purchased 5 cows more and wished to give 1 by 2 of the total cows to his eldest son, 1 by 4 to the second son and remaining to the youngest son. Find the total number of contract son will get?

No. of cows farmer had =11
he purchased no of cows =5
total no of cows farmer had =11 +5 =16
ratio given to eldest son =1 /2
eldest son gets = 1/2 *16 =8
2nd son gets =1/4 *16 =4
remaining cows =8+4 =12 (16 -12) =4
therefore the youngest son gets = 4 cows
