A farmer has 1000 plants. He needs some more plants so that he can plant them in such a way that the number of column and rows remain the same. Find the minimum of additional plants required for this.

and number of columns remain same (equal) then the total number of trees will be

in the form of perfect square (x² )

As 1000 is not a perfect square, we first  need to check for a perfect

square above and nearest to 1000.

So, use hit and trial method:

30^2 = 900

31^2 = 961

32^2 = 1024

So n = 1024 - 1000 = 24
