Given :- A farmer has a field of area 49 4/5 ha. He wants to divide it equally among his one son and two daughters. Find the area of each one’s share.
(ha means hectare; 1 hectare = 10,000 m2)
Solution :-
→ Total area of field = 49(4/5) ha = (249/5) ha .
now, given that,
→ 1 hectare = 10000m²
so,
→ (249/5) hectare = (249/5) * 10000 = 249 * 2000 = 498000 m² .
now,
→ Distributed between = 1 son + 2 daughters = 3 .
then,
→ Share of each = 498000/3 = 166000 m² (Ans.)
therefore, share of each is 166000 m² or 16.6 hectare .
