A farmer has a garden which is 6m long and 4m wide. He dig four square flower beds each of side 2m. Find the area of the remaining land in the garden

Area of garden  =  length  x  width

                            =    6  x  4

                            =      24

area of square flower bed = (side)²

                                             =   2²

                                             =   4

Area remaining   = Area of garden  -  (Area of flower bed x number of                                                flower bed)

                             = 24 - (4 x 4)

                             = 24 - 16

                             =  8 metre
