Answer:

17.5 days

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Enough food for 50 animals for weeks = 10

No of days in weeks = 10 * 7 = 70 days

animals sold = 10

To find :

How many more days food last = ?

Solution:

Animals sold = 10

Animals left = 50 -10 = 40

As we know that if no of animals will be less then food will be last more and if the no animals will lower down then food will last less

So the relation between these two are inverse relation

which means that if one item will increase other will decrease and if one will decrease other will increase

So according to definition of inverse relation

If an object a is an inverse relation between an object b then it could be written as

a ∝ \frac{1}{b}

a =  \frac{k}{b}

Here k is constant of proportionality

Now according to our given example

We have 50 animals and 70 days

so

a= 50 and b=70

Then equation is

a =  \frac{k}{b}

Putting values

50 =  \frac{k}{70}

50 * 70 = k

k = 3500

Now we have value of k

Now for a= 40 and k = 3500 we have to find b = ?

Then equation is

a =  \frac{k}{b}

Putting values

40 =  \frac{3500}{b}

40*b = 3500

b =  \frac{3500}{40}

b = 87.5 days

when no of animals are 40 they will have food enough for 87.5 days

More no days = 87.5 - 70

                        = 17.5 days
