Question :

A farmer has sheep and cattle in the ratio 8: 3. How many Sheep has the farmer if he has 180 cattle ?

Answer :

\sf\pink{Given:}

  • Ratio of sheep and cattle is 8:3

  • Number of cattle is 180.

\sf\pink{To\:find:}

  • Number of sheep ?

Explanation :

  • let the number of sheep be "x"

\\ \longrightarrow\sf{ \dfrac{ 8}{3} = \dfrac{x}{180}}

After cross multiplication :

\\ \longrightarrow\sf{8\times 180 = 3\times x}

\\ \longrightarrow\sf{\dfrac{8\times 180}{3} =  x}

\\ \longrightarrow\sf{8\times 60=  x}

\\ \longrightarrow\sf{480=  x}

Therefore the number of sheep is 480
