A farmer has some hens and cows number heads be 100and legs are 280

Let the no . of hens be x and cows be y .

so ,

x+y = 100........(i)  multiply by 2.....we get

2 x + 2 y = 200 .......(ii)

Now ,

hens have 2 legs and cows have have 4.

So,

2 x + 4 y = 280............(iii)

Subtract equation (ii) from (iii).......We get

2 y = 80

so ,

y = 40 and x = 60
