a farmer is growing wheat crop in 1 acre area and is using Urea , DAP and MOP as fertilizers . He want to apply the fertilizer at the rate of 100:50:50 kg /hactare . How much fertilizer he has to buy from market . He is applying N as three split doses .​

For nitrogen fertilization, urea is the best type of fertilizer to use. It is not advisable to use fertilizer-containing nitrate (NO3-) as a source of nitrogen, because nitrate is easily leached to the bottom of the profile, out of reach of the rice roots. Example: a bag of 50 kg of urea contains 50 ´ 0.46 = 23 kg N.
