Answer:

farmer moves 10m in 40 sec so total distance travel in 140 sec is 35m so displacement covered in 140 sec is 10-5 = 5 m

Question

A farmer moves along the boundary of a square field of side 10 m in 40 seconds. What'll be the magnitude of displacement of the farmer at the end of 2 minutes 20 seconds from his initial position?

✰Given :-

⋄ 40m Distance covered in 40s.

⋄ Total time taken = 140s

✰ To Find:-

⋄Displacement of farmer at the end of 140s.

_______________________________

Solution :-

If he take 40s to complete one round of square field.

Total round = 140/40 = 3.5 round .

∴ The displacement of farmer in 3 round is equal to zero

Now, displacement for 0.5 round

⋄ Here, he half round of square field

and we know that displacement is the shortest path between two points.

⋄Here, displacement is AC

so by using Pythagoras theorem

➧ AC² = AB² +BC²

➧ AC = √10² +√10²

➧ AC = √200

➧ AC = 14.14m

∴ The displacement of farmer from his initial position is 14.14m
