\large\underline{\sf{Solution-}}

Given that

↝ A farmer plant two crops, potatoes and corn on a 10 hectare piece of land.

↝ The number of hectare of corn planted must be atleast twice the number of hectares of poatoes.

↝ Let number of hectares of corn be 'x'

and

↝ Let number of hectares of corn be 'y'

According to statement,

Area of land = 10 hectares.

↝So, total area to be planted cannot exceed 10 hectares.

\rm :\longmapsto\:x + y \leqslant 10

According to statement again,

↝The number of hectare of corn planted must be atleast twice the number of hectares of poatoes.

\rm :\longmapsto\:y \geqslant 2x

Hence,

The required inequalities are

\rm :\longmapsto\:x + y \leqslant 10

and

\rm :\longmapsto\:y \geqslant 2x

Additional Information :-

Let's take one more example of same type!!

Question :- An aeroplane can carry a maximum of 200  passengers. The airline reserves at least 20 seats for executive class. However, at least 4 times as many passengers prefer to travel by economy class than by the executive class. Represent the above scenario in inequalities form.

Answer

Let assume that number of executive class passengers be 'x' and economy class passengers be 'y'.

So,

According to statement,

\rm :\longmapsto\:x + y \leqslant 200 \\ \\\rm :\longmapsto\: x \geqslant 20 \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\\rm :\longmapsto\: y \geqslant \: 4x \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \:
