Given:

A farmer's 18% animals died in pandemic and 25% of remainder died from diseases.

If the farmer left with 12300 animal now.

To find:

What was the original number he has before the pandemic?

Solution:

Let's assume "x" represents the original no. of animals.

So,

No. of animals died in the pandemic = 18% of x = 0.18x

∴ The remaining no. of animals = x - 0.18x = 0.82x

The no. of animals died from diseases is,

= 25% of remaining i.e., 0.82x

= \frac{25}{100} \times  0.82x

= \frac{20.5x}{100}

= 0.205x

Now, the remaining no. of animals will be = 0.82x = 0.205x = 0.615x

The farmer was left with 12300 animals after the death of animals due to pandemic and diseases.

∴ 0.615x = 12300

⇒ x = \frac{12300}{0.615}

x = 20000

Thus, the original no. of animals the farmer had was → 20000.
