 distance traveled on foot  =   x km.

distance traveled on bicycle = (61 - x) km

x / 4 + 61 - x /9 = 9

9x + 4(61 -x) = 9 × 36

9x - 4x + 244 = 324

5x = 324 - 244

5x = 80

 x = 80/15

x = 16 km

The distance travelled on foot is 16 km

Let the distance travelled on foot be x km.

Then, distance travelled on bicycle = (61 -x) km.

So,x/4+(61 -x)/9= 9

 9x + 4(61 -x) = 9 x 36

 5x = 80

 x = 16 km.
