let the speed of the fast train = xkm/ hr
let the speed of the slow train = (x-10)km/hr
the time taken by the fast train = 600/x
the time taken by the slow train=600/(x-10)
(600/x-10) -600/x =3
3x^2-30x-6000=0
x^-10x-2000=0
x^-50x+40x-2000=0
(x-50) (x+40)
x=50; x= -40;
the speed of the fast train is 50 km/hr
the speed of the slow train is 40 km/hr
