Age :-

Son = 30 years

Father = 65 years

Step-by-step explanation:

QUESTION :-

A father is 35 years more than his son's age. After 5 years the father's age will be twice of his son's age. Find the present age of both.

SOLUTION :-

Let the present as of son as x

And present age of father as y.

  • Father's age is 35 more than son

So,

y = x + 35

=> y - x = 35.....(i)

After 5 years,

Son's age will be x + 5

and, father's age will be y + 5

  • Father's age is twice son's

So,

y + 5 = 2(x + 5)

=> y + 5 = 2x + 10

=> y = 2x + 10-5

=> y - 2x = 5.....(ii)

Now,

subtract equation (ii) from (i),

y - x = 35

- y ± 2x = ± 5

=> x = 30

Now,

put the value of x in equation (i),

=> y - x = 35

=> y - 30 = 35

=> y = 35+30

=> y = 65

So,

Son's age = x = 30

Father's age = y = 65

Note :

You can see that Father is 35 years old than son. And also after 5 years, father's age will be twice son's age.

Hope it helps.
