Given :- A father age is 4 times as much as the sum of the ages of his three children but 6 years hence his age will be only double the sum of their ages .Find his present age ?

Solution :-

Let father age is x years and three children total age is y years .

so,

→ x = 4y ------ Eqn.(1)

now,

→ after 6 years fathers age = (x + 6) years

→ after 6 years 3 children total age = (y + 18) years .

A/q,

→ (x + 6) = 2(y + 18)

→ x + 6 = 2y + 36

→ x - 2y = 30

putting value of Eqn.(1)

→ 4y - 2y = 30

→ 2y = 30

→ y = 15

therefore,

→ Father present age = 4y = 15 * 4 = 60 years (Ans.)
